September- Arizona Lifestyle Edit

It’s hard to believe, but the kiddos have been back in school for a few weeks now, and we’re slowly finding our rhythm again. While I do miss those slow, leisurely summer mornings, there’s something comforting about getting back into a routine. Plus, I love seeing them dive into the sports they’re passionate about—it’s so rewarding to watch them do what they love!

Today, we’re diving into how to prep your patio, sharing about our California travels, sharing about a restaurant that is coming soon to Phoenix, Arizona, and offering a delicious mocktail recipe.

Let's get started!

Styling Tip: Prepping Your Patio for Cooler Mornings and Evenings (Eventually)

As September rolls in, we can start dreaming of those cooler evening breezes—though, if you’re in Arizona like me, you know we’ve still got some time before “fall” truly shows up. But that doesn’t mean we can’t start getting our patios ready for those blissful moments when the weather finally cooperates!

To make your outdoor space a cozy retreat, start by adding a few plush throw blankets and some soft pillows in warm, soft, inviting textures. These little touches can make all the difference when you’re enjoying your morning coffee outside or winding down with dinner al fresco. A few lanterns or string lights can also add a magical glow, perfect for setting the mood when the sun starts to dip.

And don’t forget a fire pit or outdoor heater—essential for those evenings when the temperature does decide to drop. Not only does it keep you warm, but it also creates a gathering spot for friends and family. Pair it with a few nature inspired accessories, like wooden trays or fresh greens, to bring a touch of fall charm to your space.

Travel Highlight: One Last Summer Getaway to Orange County, CA

Before we fully embraced the back-to-school routine, we snuck in one last getaway to Orange County, CA—a perfect way to wrap up the summer. The highlight? Spending quality time with family and friends, of course. The beautiful beach in Corona Del Mar definitely stole the show for our beach experiences. There’s something truly magical about that place; it’s the kind of beach where time seems to stand still, letting you soak in every moment.

Our trip wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to my favorite restaurant Pacific Hideaway, inside the Kipton Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington. The combination of exquisite food, a stunning setting, and the company of loved ones made it a meal to remember. We also enjoyed visiting a new restaurant, Jolie, that overlooked the ocean and was one we will go back to.

Local Restaurant Highlight: Trevors is Coming to North Phoenix!

Back on the home front, there’s some exciting news for foodies like us—Trevors, one of our favorite local spots, is opening a new location in North Phoenix as a part of the PV Mall reimagined next month! If you’ve never been, you’re in for a treat. The food, particularly the pizza, is always top-notch, and the atmosphere is lively and welcoming. We can’t wait to check out the new spot and see what delicious surprises they have in store.

Monthly Drink Recipe: Refreshing Ginger Cucumber Mocktail

To keep things light and refreshing as we transition from summer to fall, I’ve been loving this healthy mocktail featuring ginger, cucumber, lime, and mint. It’s a perfect pick-me-up for those hot afternoons that are still hanging around.

Drink Ingredients:

  • Cucumber (1 inch grated and slices for garnish)

  • 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and grated

  • Juice of a lime

  • A handful of fresh mint leaves

  • Ginger beer - I like the Bundaberg diet ginger beer the best

  • Pellegrino Sparkling Water

  • Ice cubes

Instructions:

  1. Grate ginger and cucumber into a bowl.

  2. Squeeze the lime into the ginger and cucumber mixture.

  3. Muddle the grated cucumber, grated ginger, and lime juice.

  4. Strain the mixture with a spoon into a glass with ice cubes.

  5. Add mint leaves to the glass.

  6. Fill the glass with ginger beer to about ¾ full.

  7. Top with Pellegrino and stir.

  8. Garnish with extra cucumber slices and mint leaves if you like.

  9. Serve and enjoy the cool, invigorating flavors!
